Concentration in the autistic brain is marked by both hyperfocus, an intense and deep concentration on specific interests, and challenges with disengaging attention and processing information from the broader environment. Sensory differences can also affect focus, and information processing may rely more on attention- and memory-based networks that can become overloaded.

Hyperfocus

  • Intense interest:
Many autistic individuals experience intense, focused interest in particular subjects, leading to "hyperfocus" where they become deeply engrossed in the task.
  • "Flow state":
During hyperfocus, some people can enter a flow state, where their entire attention is absorbed by the task, and everything else fades away.
Challenges with attention and processing
  • Difficulty disengaging:
Individuals with autism may have challenges with disengaging attention and orienting it to new stimuli.

  • Narrowed attention:
Attention can be overly focused and narrow, making it difficult to shift focus when needed.

  • Information overload:
Autistic brains can have difficulty with automatic processing of information, leading to reliance on attention and memory networks that can easily become overloaded by excessive stimuli.

  • Sensory sensitivity:
Atypical processing of sensory input from the environment can make it harder to filter out distractions, impacting concentration.

내가 그동안 사람들 사이에서 힘들어했던 모든 것들이......

다 자폐 증상이었어...

근데 하이퍼포커스와 hard to disengage and easily distracted 가 뭔가 상반된 느낌인데🤔 또 맞는 듯,,,,,,😓
